Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch FAQs

  • Do I own the Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch?

Yes. The subscription is for the alarm monitoring service. If the Personal Alarm Watch is lost or damaged, you would need to order a replacement to continue benefiting from the 24-hour monitored alarm service.

  • How do I set up the Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch?

Setting up the Personal Alarm Watch is straightforward and there is an easy-to-follow user guide included with your order. We provide access to a secure website for you to log on to and provide your user details. You can also use this website to set up safety zones.

You will need to charge the watch, turn it on and press the SOS button to place a test alarm call to our Emergency Resolution team and activate the watch.

  • How can the GPS safety zones be used?

You can create 'safety zones' to monitor movements in and out of areas. For example, you may want to create a zone around your home so an alert is triggered when you move outside of this area. This would notify friends or family by SMS or email so they are aware you have left the area.

  • Can I make phone calls from the Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch?

No, you can only use the Personal Alarm Watch to call our Emergency Resolution team by pressing the SOS button on the front.

  • What happens if I lose or damage the Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch?

The Personal Alarm Watch is owned by you so should it be lost or damaged, you would need to order a replacement to continue benefiting from the 24-hour monitored alarm service.

  • How long should the watch be charged for?

We recommend the Personal Alarm Watch is charged daily. The battery fully charges within 90 minutes and lasts approximately 48 hours with typical use.

  • Do I need to pay for the SIM card costs?

There are no Pay As You Go SIM card costs. The subscription includes a multi-network SIM chip that is pre-fitted in the Personal Alarm Watch.

  • Does the Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch include a charging cable and plug?

Yes, it does. Everything you need to use the Personal Alarm Watch is included with your order.

  • Do I need to pay VAT?

92% of customers do not need to pay VAT on their orders, including installation. If you, or the person who you are purchasing the alarm service for, have a condition that requires regular medication such as arthritis, diabetes, or high blood pressure, or are registered disabled, you may qualify for VAT exemption. Check our VAT exemption guide for advice.

  • What if I change my mind after ordering?

You have the right to cancel within 30 days of purchase. There are no complicated requirements or hidden charges.

  • How much does delivery cost?

The cost of delivery is included so there is no extra charge.

  • Does the Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch work anywhere or are there blackspots?

The Out-and-About Personal Alarm Watch will work anywhere in the UK, excluding the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, and where there is a 2G cellular network to communicate, subject to atmospheric conditions, radio interference, buildings, or other forms of interference that can block the pendant's connection to GPS satellites.

The multi-network SIM provides the highest level of mobile coverage by accessing available mobile networks to find the strongest signal. However occasionally due to the proximity of masts or the building itself there may be blackspots. This is true of all mobile devices.
